I and my costume-partner-pal went to the London MCM expo in May in full steampunk regalia - see [link] for more details!
I made this gunblade (the most practical weapon ever, clearly) in just over a week - the body is a repainted toy pistol, the blade is made out of this thick sheet plastic I got from a model shop - I had to score and hack and sand away at it for days with a heavy duty hunting knife to get it to cut!
There's also part of a broken arrow incorporated - that's what comes from being on the archery club committee for years, nobody cares if you steal all the broken equipment for crafts!
The handle is leather and embossing metal. It's very reflective in person, which is hard to show in photos, given my limited photography skill!
When I had this at the expo, staff thought it was a sharp and almost confiscated it before I showed them that it was incredibly lightweight and blunt!
